Language Placement Exam
-
For native speakers of English, proficiency in French, German, Spanish, Greek or Latin is required for the Bachelor of Arts degree. Students demonstrate proficiency only by successful completion of 201 (or a higher level, three-credit course) in one of these languages, taken on the Hillsdale campus.
If you have some prior competency in one of the above languages and want to continue study of that language here at Hillsdale, you are required to take the placement exam in that language. We want to be sure that you begin study at the appropriate level.
-
Prior to taking a language placement exam, please follow the ITS Instructions to gain access to the Hillsdale network.
Next, visit canvas.hillsdale.edu and log in with your Hillsdale College email address (username@hillsdale.edu) and password. Finally, click the course title Language Placement Exam – Spring 23 on the Dashboard. Follow the instructions to access the relevant exam.
